A Legacy of Integral Mission

A Life Under Christ's Lordship

Pastor Lawrence and Martha Temfwe

Jubilee Centre was founded in 1999 by Pastor Lawrence and Martha Temfwe. Pastor Lawrence was a theologian who believed passionately that every dimension of our lives comes under the Lordship of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

He lived with the firm conviction that our lives should be a daily embodiment of this truth, influencing every thought, action, and decision in service to the Kingdom. While studying at Wheaton College in Chicago, USA, Pastor Lawrence envisioned returned to Zambia to establish a network that would mobilize churches to identify community needs and coordinate collective ideas to solve them together.

"Everything rises or falls on account of leadership."

"Peace and injustice simply cannot coexist."

Our Core Philosophy

His dream was to unite churches to bring about maximum transformation and accountability, which birthed the concept of Church Networks. Believing that each culture has a unique contribution, he championed cross-cultural partnership to build a more robust Body of Christ globally.

Under Lawrence and Martha's leadership, Jubilee Centre grew from a handful of churches addressing the immediate HIV & AIDS crisis into a multifaceted organization. JC disciples community members into self-reliant, selfless agents of change. Today, this profound passion continues to live through co-founder Martha Temfwe, the dedicated staff, and the over 250+ churches actively served by Jubilee Centre.

Relationship building has always been, and remains, the core ethos of our global ministry. We are profoundly grateful for Pastor Lawrence’s life and the incredible legacy he has left behind as we continue to dare to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Mission & Vision

Empowering Communities

Our Mission

We exist to empower churches, communities and their leaders to grow spiritually, flourish physically and have a voice in the world. We are dedicated to bringing about moral, economic and political transformation in Zambia.

Envisioning Hope

Our Vision

"We see a day when the church, its leaders and its people have been transformed into agents of change bringing Christian hope, justice and well-being within their communities and inspiring others to do the same."

Our Christian Philosophy

Jubilee Centre is founded on the belief that every part of our lives comes under the Lordship of Christ and that all of life is a context for worship, mission, ministry and active Christian engagement.

We recognized that the evangelical church had a gap in addressing holistic community development, both in Zambia and globally. Our work emphasizes reflection, implementation, investing in and inspiring clergy, scholars, Christian activists, politicians and private business professionals.

Our Journey

24 Years of Transformation

Since our founding in 2000, Jubilee Centre has journeyed from a singular theological vision under the Lordship of Christ into a nationwide movement of community empowerment. Over twenty-four years, this path of faith has evolved from early youth action clubs and HIV & AIDS awareness programs into robust national networks of over 250 churches. Guided by local leadership and strengthened by strategic global partnerships with academic and development institutions around the world, we continue to serve urban communities across Zambia—equipping individuals to become self-reliant, selfless agents of change who inspire hope, advocate for justice, and lead the way toward sustainable transformation.
