Initiative Overview

The Child Sponsorship Program is a program designed to provide spiritual, emotional and physical support to the child and their family. The program is designed also to draw families together. When one member of the family is blessed the rest of the family is blessed too. This is so true today for example, the monthly support only has one child at a time. The siblings and parents at times even extended families are blessed. It is hoped that if one member comes to know Christ, as a result of receiving monthly support, other family members too will testify to God’s love and come to Christ too.

Monthly Payment

This is a time when payment is passed on to each child for their support through the church they belong to.

Quarterly Cash Transfer

This time is a special time when as JC staff we get to meet with all the children and their parents & guardians at a selected church. Devotions are led by different coordinators/pastors from the different churches in the community. Someone leads in praise and worship. We then get to listen to testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of the children and parents. The impact the support is having on the children and their families.

Savings Groups

This is a program where families put aside an amount each month towards their savings. The cycle runs for 12 months all together and what they have saved over that period with their interests made is passed on to them at the end of each cycle. Savings encourages families to build financial resilience, secure emergency funds, and plan for their children's future.

Quarterly School & Home Visits

Visits to families' homes and schools are made to see how the children are doing in their studies and at home, and to check if there are challenges being faced that we need to address. We look at how they are doing in school, if they need extra lessons, or require other support. We want to make sure the church is proactive in ministering to the children.

Monthly Mentoring Program

Meetings held with children on the program to encourage them in their faith and address issues affecting them. This lets the children know they have mentors or counsellors they can relate to, and even open up to about some of the things they could be going through.

Sustainable Livelihood

This program empowers families in how to farm God's way (conservation farming). This is a more sustainable way of farming.

Tertiary Education

This program facilitates children who were once on the CSP to go on and study in college or university at the request of the sponsors who sponsored the child in high school. They choose not to take on another child in primary or high school but help them through college.
